September 15, 2011
Dear Past, Present and Future Members of the Mattole Valley Women's Club,
Please mark your calendar, pack your lunch, and join us for our September 29th meeting at the Mattole Grange at 11:30 A.M. At this time we are hoping to have a special guest speaker for our meeting. The main item up for discussion at this meeting will be the election of the Person(s) of the Year. It is very important that every member be present for this meeting so that everyone can contribute and vote.
We Got Plans:
We will continue to be discussing a diversity of subjects including: the club’s goals for the 2011-2012 year, our Christmas party, elections of club officers, doing something for our community such as collecting baskets and basket items to give to people in our community that need a little ‘sunshine’ in their life, and putting together emergency back-packs for each classroom in our School District.
Our past combined efforts have shown us what can be accomplished when a common need must be met. In addition to our scholarship support, our club has also donated to the schools, the Petrolia Volunteer Fire Department, the Honeydew Volunteer Fire Company, Josie Brown’s Lost Coast Camp, the Mountain of Mercy Mission (Honeydew), St. Vincent DePaul’s Thanksgiving Program (Eureka) and Ferndale High School’s Safe and Sober Night. During the elementary school’s Winter Party last year, each and every elementary student received a hand-made gift bag individually filled with age appropriate gifts to delight the child. These gift bags were made, personalized, and then assembled by the combined efforts of the women of our club.
All this has been possible thanks to the funds that we generate from our only fundraiser: the July 4th BBQ raffle.
We Got Fun:
Our Christmas party is always a lot of fun! This year’s party will be at the Grange on Tuesday, December 13th. We will share a meal, have our exciting ornament/gift exchange, and for those that wish, participate in a delicious cookie exchange. Last year we expanded our party activities to include making a Christmas ornament to take home.
We Got Lasting Friendship:
We welcome new members to join us, to enjoy one another’s company and to make some ever-lasting friendships, as we also contribute to our community. Please plan to start off this fall by marking your calendar for the last Thursday in September (the 29th) at 11:30 AM to join us for our meeting! If you need a ride to club or a reminder phone call the day before the meeting, please contact Cindy Weber at 629.3329 or Cindy Lyman at 629.3638.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
